Chauffeur Website SEO: How a 12-Day-Old Page Hit Number 1 on Google
Strata Executive Travel asked us for a page to sell transport for Fury v Joshua at the Principality Stadium. Twelve days after it went live, it was number 1 on Google for “Joshua fight cardiff transport”, above Transport for Wales, a local minibus firm and the Cardiff news sites.
Strata is a Cardiff chauffeur company and one of our longest-standing clients. We built their booking system back when they were Alffeur Executive, then their new website after the rebrand (read that case study).
When the biggest fight in years was announced for Cardiff, they wanted to be the first name people found.
The challenge
A fight night at the Principality Stadium means a whole city of people searching for a way to get there and back. The trouble is, the top of Google is usually taken by the big names: Transport for Wales, the news sites and the larger transport firms.
Strata needed:
- A page people would actually find when they searched for fight night transport
- A clear offer that stood out from trains, taxis and minibuses
- An answer to the big worry: getting home after a late finish
- Quotes that didn't create a pile of extra admin
What we did
We built one focused landing page on the Strata website. Here's what went into it:
- Built it around real searches. We looked at what people type into Google, like “Joshua fight Cardiff transport”, and used those words in the heading, the page title and the text.
- Made the offer clear in seconds. Executive Mercedes V-Class travel, drop-off close to the stadium, a smart collection point after the fight and a limited number of cars.
- Answered the late-finish worry. The main event is expected to finish in the early hours. The page tells people their driver will be waiting, so there's no queuing for late trains.
- Added fight night FAQs. Short answers to the questions people ask before they book, like where the fight is and how they get home.
- Made booking quick. Every quote request lands in Xero as a ready-to-send invoice, so Strata can confirm and get paid in a couple of taps.
Why it ranked so fast
There's no secret trick. Google wants to show the page that best answers the search. A rail operator's travel update or a news story covers lots of things. Strata's page covers one thing really well: getting you to the fight and home again in comfort.
A few things helped:
- One page, one event, one clear job
- The words people search for, used naturally in the right places
- Local detail, like the Principality Stadium, road closures and late finishes
- A fast, mobile friendly page that's easy for Google to read
Keeping it at the top
Getting to number 1 is one thing. Staying there means keeping the page useful. Next up:
- Adding the drop-off and collection points as soon as they're confirmed
- Updating the finish time once the fight schedule is announced
- Checking the ranking every week, so we spot any slip early
Got a big event near you?
This works for any chauffeur or taxi firm. Every big event creates a rush of people searching for a way there and home. Most of them never find a local firm, because nobody built a page for it.
Think about what's coming up near you:
- Concerts and festivals
- Rugby and football matches
- Boxing and other big sporting nights
- Weddings, graduations and race days
One well built page, live a few weeks before the date, can put your cars in front of those people first. And it's ready to update the next time a big event comes to the same venue.
Quick questions
How long does it take to rank a page like this?
It depends on the search and the competition. This page hit number 1 in 12 days, which is quick. Most pages take a few weeks to a few months, so it pays to go live well before the event.
Do I need a new website for this?
No. If your website runs on WordPress, we can add an event page to what you already have. If your site is slow or hard to update, it might be worth looking at the bigger picture first.
Is the page still useful after the event?
Yes. Update it for the next big event at the same venue and it keeps working for you, instead of starting from scratch every time.
